CROSS-POLLINATION!

There was a farmer who grew excellent quality corn. Every year he won the award for the best grown corn in the locality.

A particular year a newspaper reporter interviewed him to learn something interesting about how he was able to attain the goal. The reporter discovered that the farmer usually share his seedlings with his neighbours.

“How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbours when they enter into competition with yours each year?” the reporter asked.

“Why sir,” said the farmer, “Didn’t you know? “The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field. If my neighbours grow inferior corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn.

If I am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbours grow good corn.

My shared story this week can reflect our lives. We need to do an appraisal on what gives true satisfaction in life. If we truly want to live fulfilled, we must be eager to enrich others. Our true value in life will be measured by the opportunities we utilize to touch others. If we will be truly happy, we must be willing to help others to find happiness such that the welfare of each is bound up to the welfare of all. We can call it power of collectivity, a principle of success, a law of life or synergy. The truth is, none of us truly wins until we all win.
