REASONS WHY PRESIDENT JONATHAN MET WITH PDP GOVERNORS.

Reasons why Jonathan me with PDP Governors was
explained by a very close source. The Sunday night
meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors was to
harmonise areas of differences in the approach towards
successful primaries for the party ahead 2015, leaders of
the party have said.
The closed door meeting, held at First Lady Wing of the
State House, began at 9pm and ended at 12.05am.
Abia State Governor Theodore Orji told journalists that the
meeting was aimed at fortifying the PDP with a view to
ensuring that candidates emerge through credible
primaries.
Kogi State Deputy Governor Yomi Awoniyi, who
represented his boss, Idris Wada, said the meeting
discussed ways of repositioning the PDP properly to serve
Nigerians better.

“Mr President called the PDP governors and we had a very
good meeting. It is all about repositioning the party
properly in order to serve Nigerian citizens very well. It
was a very cordial meeting and the resolutions reached
will be made public by the appropriate quarters,” he said.
On what the future holds for the PDP given the strength of
the opposition, Awoniyi said the party had a very bright
prospect in the 2015 general elections.
“The prospect of the PDP in the 2015 general elections is
equally very bright. Yes, there is an opposition quite in
place, but the party is working very hard to maintain the
pride of place we have always had since 1999. We’re
watching very closely and appropriate steps will be taken,
and with active support of the electorate, we believe we
will do very well in 2015,” he said.
Also speaking, Adamawa State Governor Bala Ngilari said:
“We had a session with the president to brainstorm since
we are in the season of electioneering now. Party
primaries are coming up. So, we just came to exchange
ideas and strategise on the way forward.”
Ngilari declined comments on whether the meeting
discussed the president’s declaration of intention to seek
re-election in 2015.
Present at the meeting were Vice President Mohammed
Namadi Sambo and the governors of Kebbi, Kaduna,
Gombe, Adamawa, Bauchi, Ondo, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Delta,
Cross River, Katsina, Abia, Bayelsa and Niger states.
Others were the acting governor of Taraba State as well
as the deputy governors of Kogi and Nasarawa states.
